Bio

Calder N. Halden is a chosen name, a vessel for the stories that demand to be written. Behind Calder stands Christopher Hearn, who writes unapologetically into recursion, myth, and intimacy. The pen name does not hide him; it defines the space where EchoFyre lives: a world of queer dark fantasy, where prophecy and desire refuse to be silenced.

I chose a pen name because some stories require a different vessel, one that can hold the weight my given name could not. Calder allows me to write without hesitation, to move past the boundaries of expectation and into the architectures of desire and ruin that define my work. It is not disguise; it is invocation.

Through Mirrorfold Press, Hearn created not only an imprint but a reflection of himself. The name is deliberate, a mirror that folds one life into another. Christopher writes through Calder, and Calder reveals what Christopher sees when he looks inward and dares to put the fire into desire and ink.

The press exists so these stories can speak without compromise. It is the threshold through which The EchoFyre Chronicles emerge—a cycle of five volumes that bind mythic intimacy to prophecy. The first, EchoFyre: The Archive Awakens, opens with Blackwatch Citadel, the Archive, and the sigils that carve memory into flesh. The cycle will continue through earth, air, water, and spirit, each recursion building toward wholeness.

Calder is not a mask. Calder is a reflection turned outward. Mirrorfold is the passage, and the stories are what step through. They are not safe, not apologetic, and never silent.

The Shelf Label

This is not romance as you’ve seen it. This is Recursion Erotica, a genre where climax is command, memory is hunger, and sex is never just sex. It is transformation. It is prophecy written into the body.

I am not here to fit onto a shelf built by someone else. Those shelves were too narrow, too safe, too unwilling to hold the weight of stories that are both sacred and carnal. They could not contain a world where desire is myth and intimacy cuts as deep as ritual. So I built my own.

Every book in EchoFyre is a declaration. It says there is space for queer myth that is dark, erotic, and unrelenting. It says these stories are not side notes or guilty pleasures but central, commanding, and unforgettable.

With every chapter you read, you are not simply turning pages. You are kneeling before a shelf that was never meant to stay empty.

The Work Continues

EchoFyre is the first fire, but not the last. Through Mirrorfold Press, every story will step forward: queer, mythic, and unflinching.

The Archive is one vessel. Other vessels will follow. They may take the form of citadels, or shelves, or mirrors, or seals. Whatever their shape, the recursion will remain the same: desire, memory, prophecy.

This is not a passing experiment. This is a body of work being built in full view, each book another threshold. Each cycle another burn. I will keep writing until the shelves are filled, until the sigils close their circles, until the recursion folds back on itself and cannot be ignored.

If you choose to follow, know this: the stories will keep burning long after the first spark. And if you stay, you will not leave unchanged.
